Amazon Complete Twitch Acquisition

Retail giants Amazon have surprised those who were not in the know, after publicly announcing the purchase of game streaming service Twitch.

Informing the world via a brief SEC filing, the statement said, “On September 25, 2014, Amazon.com, Inc. completed its acquisition of Twitch Interactive, Inc,”.

The deal which was secretly announced around the end of August had a stated purchase price of $970 million. What does this mean for Twitch you ask? Well it should mean there are major infrastructure improvements for the service, whilst also having a bigger brand awareness for the company, thanks to Amazon’s name.

It should work well, but as with a lot of acquisitions, they don’t always work out. One thing we will say is that Amazon have done many acquisitions in the past which have helped those said companies give a better service in general. So Twitch users, don’t be alarmed.
