The UK gaming industry is currently experiencing a huge amount of growth. There are a number of reasons for this, including:
- Gaming is becoming a wider industry. It is no longer just the typical action games – there are so many more platforms people can use and different approaches to games.
- The industry has received good funding. There are grants available to develop new gaming talent and new initiatives from smaller startup game developers.
- The UK is now the third best country for attracting skilled digital talent. There are more gaming-related degree courses and companies are offering competitive packages for game designers, so the work prospects are very good.
Last year, it is thought the UK gaming industry was worth a huge £4.33 billion. Around half the population now play games in one form or another, whether it is on more traditional consoles like the PS4 or on a smartphone or virtual reality device.
